Frankenstein Written Response
Frankenstein has many Gothic themes within its text. It features natural elements such as nature how it relates to the monsters isolation and mood. It also includes deep emotions of love, relationships including the master-monster dynamic of Victor and his monster. Making the novel romantic themes in the Gothic sense. It is filled of gloom, death, guilt and the mystery. The story however is far then black and white. There are many point of view presented in the novel that for some more relatable then others. Personally the struggle with learning language that the monster (or daemon) spoke to me much louder then Victor. I myself had always had struggles with speech, writing and other aspects of the english language. Though my genetic set backs where no where near the monsters, I related to the feeling of being created wrong. The frustration that came with struggling against something you had no control over since birth. The wanted to be understood even the violent rage that came from realization that he will never have that. I would think other people could see understanding in Victor's words. A young man determine but undoubtedly lost in the world he lived in. Most college students can related to the unknown confusion he felt or his sudden regret of a creation. That is with most leaving home for the first time being taught the world but never truly walking it. Pared with the practices of projects never explored before leading to masterpieces that are not so masterful. The novel is appealing to different audiences making it the classic that it is. In pop culture I am disappointed now of his reputation. He is seen in movies a growing unspoken monster who to the view is too grotesque to know language at all. It heavily reminds me of early writing of the DC character of Bane when they first put him on the silver screen. He was written as a pure mindless monster and untying less. Where in the comics he was a smart calculating mod boss who had strength to back out his threats. It was only later did he began to be shaped in our minds what he was originally like. Hopefully in the future they will have a movie based off this book were they stick too the novel a bit better.
